The only solution I have seen is to download a duplicate removal plugin called "Remove Duplicate Messages" but doing this generated 570 blank emails from the year 1970 (I often get blank emails from 1970). My SMTP port number is set as 587 which is wrong according to my website settings but if I change it to what my hosts say it should be the account stops work. If I delete either of the duplicate emails it deletes the other! It doesn't send them to trash, it deletes them both completely so they're gone. The email account is now working but I am receiving emails twice every new message is duplicated. I decided to remove the email account and add it again. I started by updating my password but that led to a problem where it would ask for my password every time I sent an email, even after ticking the box for it to remember the password. I've used Thunderbird for years and all was good until I decided to change my email password today.
